Holi Krishna!!!

Last weekend we went to the Festival of Colors at the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Ut that occurs every year in March. It was such a fun and beautiful experience with all the colors. Here are just a couple of photos we took that day...

"It's the biggest Holi celebration in the Western Hemisphere. In 2011 the Spanish Fork Police department estimated that over 40,000 people attended in the first day alone of the two-day festival. Organizers carefully rationed their stash of approximately 120,000 bags of colored powder.

Holi celebrates the triumph of good over evil and ushers in the spring season. At the Spanish Fork festival, rock and roll, R&B, and other modern interpretation of the mantra are played by musicians throughout the day and chanted in a call and response game between performers and attendees. The main event of each festival is the coordinated throwing of colored powder, when the sky above the crowd is filled with rainbow puffs of dye."

Our new group..

To make a short story long... the beginning of this year my close friend in the Powell family, Jimmy Carnation joined 24 Hour Fitness gym where we have been working out. He knows his way around a gym basically and I asked him to help out Dustin since he needed some guy inspiration rather than, well me. They began a routine Jimmy had for him and started hanging out more and more and became friends. Jimmy has 2 other guy friends he works out with and they all started to become friends. Pretty soon Dustin and them were hanging out outside of the gym and I was invited to their little hangouts at Jimmy's or our apartment. We played ping pong in the clubhouse... and then I invited Sierra to come to Ping Pong. Did I mention one of Jimmy's friends is ginormous with muscles? Not too long after did Sierra (beauty) and Darren (the beast) start dating (LOL) and naturally we had to do some group dates.

SO, here are some pictures of one of our recent group dates.

We ate at La Dolce Vita.

Then we went to Trifalga for some mini golf and arcade games. We played on teams and Dustin and I won! Haha. We even had cute little names for our teams. Sierra and Darren's team name was Beauty & the Beast lol. Jimmy and Jessica were PB& J. Dustin and I were OMG (old married Groffs)

Sierra and Darren won this... hairy ball that lights up haha.

It now hangs in Sierra's little honda.

Afterwards, we over filled our cups of soft serve ice cream at Maverick and then went to Jimmy's for movies.

Really??? Reaaally?

So I am a facebook junkie. But in all honesty I think facebook is a GREAT way to keep in touch with people I otherwise never would. You get to see photos of what they are doing and their opinions on some things...

Some people you like to keep in touch with but they aren't people you call up all the time. Like some of my high school friends...

Every now and then I go through my friends from high school facebook pages and look to see what they have done since high school. Sadly, it doesn't seem like much. All their photos are going to parties, wearing skimpy clothing, drinking, escaping from reality and showing how much they drink in pictures because it is sooo cool. You don't have to show me all your glasses with alcohol. I can tell from the beer belly you have, the lazy sunken eyes and the guy passed out on the couch behind you. The guys who were the cool guys in high school just look like pathetic losers now. Is this really all you have done so far? Really?

I went to a friend from high schools wedding last year and she was a popular girl. She has done a bit more. I mean come on she got married! Haha jk... but not really. Anyway, she was a popular girl and had a lot of popular friends. While I was there I was watching these friends and they still were all materialistic, wearing immature clothing, getting wasted and taking pictures of it, looking down on those wearing normal clothing and still snotty. My mom came with me because she knew the bride too and she asked what grade those girls were with me in high school. I sighed and said, "Mine." She said, "Really? I thought they were Jelina's age with what they are wearing and how they are acting."

I am not saying everyone is still like this, but it is majority. The friends I knew from high school who seem to be a little above that and are doing more, actually talk to me on facebook and don't just friend me so they can add a number to their amount of friends.

So yeah facebook is a great way to keep in touch with people and see how others are doing, but for those who are just embarrassing to look at on facebook, it is not a good idea.

Grow up already people.
