I can't remember the last time I got up at 4:45 in the morning, and this morning I was reminded why...
Victor, Lyss' dad, invited me to go turkey hunting with him and some friends and of course I went. He told me that we were probably just going to be shooting them from inside the car, which I thought would be pretty fun... Drive-by Style...
So this morning I was awakend 2 minutes before my alarm to the bedroom lights and Victor, wide-eyed and smiling in the doorway, ready to blast some turkeys. I rolled out of bed, went to the bathroom, grabbed a muffin and then we headed out.
We drove 30 minutes to the property that we could hunt on, and drove up and down the couple-mile long driveway calling for turkeys and looking for wild boar. Victor is the "Exterminator" for the property owner... not a bad deal, free hunting whenever he wants. Some boars had gotten passed his fence that surrounds his vineyards.

Victor's friend, Hunter, wanted to stay in one spot and call the turkeys in so we left him and kept driving. We saw a few deer and some jack-rabbits, but no turkey and no boar... We drove around the property for 40-50 min and then headed back down to check on Hunter. When we pulled up he was on the road and he had a nice sized turkey laying next to him. It had a 10" beard and a beautiful tail.

We tried calling for another hour, but they never came around. Even though I didn't get to shoot anything I still had a lot of fun. Hopefully the next time we're out I'll have better luck.
